It is expected that Shoaib Malik, a former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, will rejoin the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). On February 3, the team's last game in the Sylhet leg against Khulna Tigers, he will be eligible. In place of Shoaib Malik, Fortune Barishal secured their second victory of the year. In their next game, the club will play the league-leading Khulna Tigers.
Before this, there were rumours in the media that Shoaib Malik was being investigated for match-fixing after he bowled three no-balls in one over against the Khulna Tigers. Withdrawing from the event, Shoaib Malik fueled further rumours and conjecture, adding to the continuing conversations and rumours about the cricket player's exit.
