1. Shoaib Malik is set to return to Fortune Barishal

It is expected that Shoaib Malik, a former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, will rejoin the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Malik is anticipated to return to his team, Fortune Barishal, on February 2, following his sudden departure due to rumours of match-fixing. On February 3, the team's last game in the Sylhet leg against Khulna Tigers, he will be eligible. In place of Shoaib Malik, Fortune Barishal secured their second victory of the year. In their next game, the club will play the league-leading Khulna Tigers.

Before this, there were rumours in the media that Shoaib Malik was being investigated for match-fixing after he bowled three no-balls in one over against the Khulna Tigers. Withdrawing from the event, Shoaib Malik fueled further rumours and conjecture, adding to the continuing conversations and rumours about the cricket player's exit. Malik, however, formally denied any involvement in match-fixing in a social media statement that addressed these rumours.

2. Babar Azam fumes at Durdanto

On Saturday, January 27, at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 match between Rangpur Riders and Durdanto Dhaka, Babar Azam was noticeably upset about an incident.

Babar was by no means pleased with Irfan Sukkur, the wicketkeeper for Dhaka. Irfan was observed being calmed down by Dhaka batter Muhammad Naim Sheikh.

The phrase "I am not talking to you" was heard many times when Babar charged toward Irfan.

Meanwhile, Babar expressed his annoyance with Mohammad Nabi, his batting partner. Later, to bring order back to the proceedings, the on-field umpires also got involved.

3. Mashrafe Mortaza takes a break from Bangladesh Premier League

Mashrafe Mortaza decided to concentrate on his political career rather than continue playing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024. In Bangladesh's general elections earlier this month, the forty-year-old cricket player, who plays for the Awami League, won the election a second time.

Recently, Mortaza led the Sylhet Strikers in the competition, participating in five games while taking just one wicket at an economy rate of 7.73. Additionally, he attempted to bat in the top order a few times but was not very successful.
