Lockie Ferguson of New Zealand attempted language from the film 'Lagaan' in a popular video on social media published by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday, October 2, during the 2017 World Cup.
Ferguson was last seen in a professional game against Pakistan, when he finished with statistics of 1/34. The 32-year-old recently captained New Zealand in an ODI series against Bangladesh, where he took two wickets in two games. In 2023, he has eight wickets in 11 games at a 5.99 economy rate.
On Instagram, ICC captioned the amusing video:
“Lockie Ferguson, The movie Lagaan,” along with a handshake emoji.
Ferguson responded to the footage by writing:
“Still fixing my hair…”
Ferguson, who has played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Gujarat Titans (GT), and the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant, will try to take advantage of the conditions in the showpiece ICC tournament.
On Monday, October 2, New Zealand will play their second warmup game at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
New Zealand squad: Kane Williamson (c), Trent Boult, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Mitch Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Will Young.
