Sports Calendar 2023, Biggest Sports Events in 2023, India will host Hockey and Cricket World Cup

The new year will be full of sports events. Four World Cups will be played in the year 2023. Apart from this, for the first time there will be Womens Under-19 World Cup and Womens IPL. At the same time, India will host tournaments like ICC Cricket World Cup, Hockey World Cup, World Boxing, and Shooting World Cup.

India will host Hockey and Cricket World Cup

India will host 4 major world tournaments and one Asian Championship this year. There will be Hockey World Cup in January, Womens World Boxing in March, Shooting World Cup in August and Cricket World Cup in October-November. The Hockey World Cup, which is held every 4 years, will be held in India this year. The tournament will be held in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela in Odisha from January 13 to 29. The 16 teams have been divided into 4 different groups. Team India is in Group D along with England, Spain, and Wales.

Biggest Sports Events in 2023, India will host the 13th edition of the ICC Mens Cricket World Cup. India had earlier hosted the Cricket World Cup in 1987, 1996 and 2011 as well. Its schedule has not been released yet, but it is expected that it can be organized in the month of November.

Under-19 Womens World Cup

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is going to organize the Under-19 Womens World Cup for the first time. This World Cup of T20 format will be played in South Africa from 14 to 29 January. A total of 41 matches will be played between 16 teams. Team India is in Group-D along with hosts South Africa, Scotland and UAE Under-19 teams. The Indian team will be led by Shefali Verma. Whereas, Richa Ghosh will be the vice-captain.

BCCI is going to organize Indian Premier League (IPL) for the first time in 2023. Challengers Trophy is definitely being organized in the name of Womens IPL since 2018. But, there were only 4 matches in this, and women players did not get many opportunities. At the same time, for the first time, 5 teams will be included in the womens IPL. The tournament is proposed between March 5 and 26. In which there will be more than 25 matches.
