RR announced new captain replacing Sanju Samson for IPL 2025: Only two days are left for the start of IPL 2025. All the teams are fully prepared for this new season. However, even before the start of the season, the Rajasthan Royals team has suffered a major setback. Team captain Sanju Samson has not yet recovered from his injury. He has not yet got clearance from the National Cricket Academy. For this reason, Sanju Samson will play only as a batsman for Rajasthan Royals in the first three matches. For this reason, Riyan Parag has been made the captain of Rajasthan Royals for these three matches in his place.

Rajasthan Royals' decision to hand over the captaincy to Riyan reflects the franchise's faith in his leadership, a skill he has displayed during his tenure as Assam's domestic captain. Being a vital member of Rajasthan Royals over the years, his understanding of team dynamics makes him well-placed to step into this role for the initial phase of the tournament.

Since Samson will no longer be able to play in the initial matches, Dhruv Jurel can be made the wicketkeeper of the team. Jurel was retained by the franchise for Rs 14 crore. There is no other wicketkeeper-batsman in the team.
Note that Rajasthan Royals will take on Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their first match of the campaign on March 23 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
