Rajasthan Royals, who havent qualified for the playoffs since 2018, came into the auction with a purpose to build a new squad, from scratch that has the strength to go all the way.
Royals, in the last two years, have struggled with their spin-bowling attack and the owners took it seriously as they added two quality Indian international slow bowlers in off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for INR 5 crore and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.
Chahal was not the only former Royal Challengers Bangalore player that RR bought at the auction, opening batsman Devdutt Padikkal had a payday of INR 7.75 crore while pacer Navdeep Saini too earned INR 2.6 crore as the trio will now feature for the Men in Pink. Another Indian player for whom RR splurged cash was pacer Praisidh Krishna, who was recently named the Man of the Series against West Indies in ODIs.
