Matthew Breetzke made the highest individual score on ODI debut: South African batsman Matthew Breetzke created history on Monday while making his ODI debut against New Zealand. He became the first player in the world to score 150 runs on ODI debut. Breetzke achieved this historic feat on his ODI debut in the second match of the ongoing ODI tri-series against New Zealand at the historic Gaddafi Stadium in Pakistan on Monday.
Brietzke came to open for the Proteas. During his brilliant 148-ball innings at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Breetzke scored a brilliant 150 runs with the help of 11 fours and five sixes.
Before Breetzke's brilliant debut, the record for scoring the most runs on ODI debut was held by West Indies' Desmond Haynes. Haynes started his ODI career on February 22, 1978, by playing a brilliant innings of 148 runs in 136 balls with the help of 16 fours and 2 sixes against Australia in St. John's. Breetzke has now broken this long-standing record with her first century.

Earlier, Colin Ingram created history for South Africa by becoming the first player from the country to score a century on ODI debut by achieving the feat against Zimbabwe in 2010. However, the distinction of being the first player to score a century not only on ODI debut but also in the shorter format of the game belongs to Dennis Amiss, who achieved the feat against Australia in 1972.
