The number of Indian athletes at the Summer Olympics has steadily increased over the past few editions. At Tokyo 2020, India sent a team of 124 athletes, the largest ever Indian Olympic contingent. India also won the most medals at any Tokyo Olympics edition with seven, including Neeraj Chopra's historic gold medal in the men's javelin throw.
India will hope to see more athletes qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics and look to increase its medal tally at the Tokyo Olympics at Paris 2024.

Trap shooter Bhavnish Mendiratta secured India's first quota place at the ISSF World Championships and is the first athlete to qualify for the Paris Olympics. Indian shooters secured quotas in every Olympic shooting category for the first time. Race walkers Priyanka Goswami and Akshdeep Singh were the first Indians to qualify for athletics events at Paris 2024.
