A left-arm fast bowler and a handy left-handed batter, Barker made his debut for Warwickshire in 2009. However, his return to the club this season on a 12-month contract did not go as hoped. A serious knee injury limited his playing time, restricting him to just two County Championship matches. He played his final game against Yorkshire at Scarborough in June; the match ended in a draw.
