The Chennai Super Kings (CHE) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) will play their next Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match at Chennai's famed MA Chidambaram Stadium. The game will be played on Wednesday, 30th April.
CSK come into this match struggling for form. Their latest outing at home ended in a five-wicket defeat against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). Chennai is stuck at the bottom of the points table this season with just two victories and four points from nine games.
On the other hand, Punjab kings is in a advantageous position. They earned a point from their last match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), which was washed out after they had posted an impressive 201/4 in their innings. With five wins, three losses, and 11 points from nine games, Punjab currently occupy the fifth spot on the table.

Veteran leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has started to find his groove after a quiet start to IPL 2025. Chahal has now taken nine wickets in as many games, maintaining an average of 26.88 and an economy rate of 9.30. Although rain prevented him from bowling in Punjab's last match against KKR, Chahal will be keen to make an impact in this crucial game.
Chepauk's spin-friendly surface will likely suit Chahal’s style, and he’ll aim to capitalize on the conditions to deliver a match-turning spell. When facing Chennai's middle order, his ability to outsmart hitters with his variations will be essential.

Left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed has been one of the bright spots in an otherwise difficult season for CSK. With 12 wickets from nine matches at an average of 24 and an economy of 9.00, he stands as the second-highest wicket-taker for the team.
In CSK’s previous match against SRH, Khaleel impressed by conceding just 21 runs in his three overs and removing Abhishek Sharma early. Among CSK’s best performers this season has been wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad.Noor demonstrated his consistency by dispatching Ishan Kishan and Aniket Verma in the most recent match against SRH, adding two more scalps.
Noor is currently the leading wicket-taker for Chennai, having claimed 14 wickets from nine matches at an excellent average of 17.78, with an economy of 8.03 and a strike rate of 13.2. Bowling in familiar conditions at Chepauk, Noor will again be tasked with breaking partnerships and putting the brakes on Punjab’s scoring.
