The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is going to start from March 22. The opening match was played between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Eden Gardens and its final match is to be played on the same ground on May 25. Like every time in IPL, this time too money will rain on the players. After every match, players who perform well will also be given prizes.
This time also the prize money in IPL will remain the same as last season. This time also the champion team will get 20 crore rupees, while the team losing the final will get 12.5 crore rupees. The team coming in third place will get 7 crore rupees and the team coming in fourth place will get 6.5 crore rupees. No prize money has been officially given for the teams coming in fifth to tenth place. Apart from this, the players performing well in the tournament will be given prizes after the final match.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made some changes in the rules for IPL 2025. The most important of these is allowing saliva to be applied on the ball. Saliva was banned due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This will be the first time after that that bowlers will be allowed to do so. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has permanently banned applying saliva on the ball in 2022. But the IPL plays according to its own rules and its decision may inspire other countries to do the same.
In the matches played in the evening in IPL 2025, if the umpires feel that the game is being affected due to dew, then they can allow the use of a new ball from the 11th over of the second innings. This rule will not apply in the matches played in the afternoon. Apart from this, teams can also use DRS for height and offside wide. Amidst all this, the rule of impact player will remain the same as before.
