Indian Premier League is considered one of the biggest leagues in the cricket world. When IPL started in 2008 with eight teams it was believed that this will be a normal league as Twenty20 Big Bash, which took place from 2005-6 to 2011-12. But no one would have thought how much popularity and class this league will earn. Nowadays IPL is the toughest cricket league in the world. Started with eight teams now the fifteenth edition of the Indian Premier League in 2022 has 10 teams. Two new teams have been added in IPL 2022 Lucknow Super Giants and Gujrat Titans named after cities Lucknow and Ahemdabad respectively.
England fast bowler Mark Wood has been ruled out from taking part in the IPL 2022 for the new franchise Lucknow Super Giants following an injury to his right elbow, which he sustained during the first Test against West Indies in North Sound last week.
As per ESPNcricinfo, the Lucknow Super Giants team received a medical update from the England Cricket Board on Friday. Mark Wood has been ruled out of the second Test against West Indies in Barbados has been replaced by Saqib Mahmood. Meanwhile, the Lucknow franchise is yet to find a replacement for him.
Wood was picked by Super Giants for INR 7.5 crore at the mega IPL auction in February. Woods participation in the IPL became doubtful once he had walked out of the drawn first Test last week after delivering just 17 overs because of the elbow problem.
Meanwhile, the franchise captain KL Rahul has stepped up preparation ahead of the season. LSG will be making its debut alongside Gujarat Titans (GT), both of whom were added to the league this year.
