The BCCI announced the schedule of IPL 2022 on Sunday, March 6. The season will kick off with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on March 26 at 7.30 pm. CSK and KKR played the IPL 2021 final. The season will be played across 4 four venues in Maharashtra with a total of 74 matches to be played. The IPL 2022 will be a 10-team event with two new teams Lucknow Supergiants and Gujarat Titans being added into the fold.
The first game will be a rematch of the IPL 2021 final with KKR looking to complete revenge on the defending champions. IPL 2022 will be a 10-team event with franchises from Lucknow and Guhareat being added to the scene.

A total of 74 matches will be played across the four venues in Maharashtra. 20 matches each will be played at the Wankhede Stadium and the DY Patil Stadium while 15 games each will be played at the Brabourne Stadium and the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
