India WTC Final Qualification: Following the draw in the second Test match against Sri Lanka, the biggest question on Indian fans' minds is whether Team India will be able to secure a spot in the World Test Championship (WTC 2025-27) final. While India clinched the series 1-0 under Shubman Gill's captaincy, the host team's spirited performance on the fifth day of the Colombo Test has somewhat complicated India's WTC final qualification scenario.

Had the Indian team won the second Test, their points percentage (PCT) would have crossed the 60% mark, moving them from fifth to fourth place in the standings. However, due to the draw, India's PCT has dropped from 53.33% to 51.51%. Despite this decline, Team India currently remains in fifth place.

Yes, India still has a strong chance of qualifying for the final. If Team India manages to win 5 or 6 of the remaining 7 matches, its PCT will rise above 60%. Meanwhile, if India wins all 7 matches, its spot in the final will be all but guaranteed.
Having reached the finals in 2021 and 2023, the Indian team missed out in the 2023-25 cycle. It will be interesting to see if Team India can make it to the final once again under Gill's captaincy.
