Uncertainty looms over KL Rahul's participation in the Dharamsala Test due to his ongoing quadriceps injury. The BCCI and team management are considering resting additional players for the series finale, scheduled for March 7th.

KL Rahul Injury Update: Sent Overseas for Expert Evaluation

Possible11 Sources indicate that Kl Rahul, previously deemed 90% fit, hasn't fully recovered. The BCCI and NCA are reassessing his condition. Rahul has been sent abroad for expert consultation and treatment, with London being a possible destination.

He has been sent overseas for an expert opinion and has been undergoing treatment for close to a week since. It cannot be confirmed but he might be consulting a specialist in London.

“The medical team thought Rahul was good to go for the last three Tests. But he complained of discomfort. He is a bit concerned about it. He has endured a heavy workload while keeping wickets in the World Cup and the Test series in South Africa. Multiple scans have been done on his quads. While there is nothing very concerning, some inflammation has been noted. The reports were sent to the doctor who treated him in England. Eventually, the doctor asked him to travel to England so that he could personally check what’s wrong with Rahul,” a BCCI source said.

Who can replace KL Rahul in 5th test against England?

With the Dharamsala Test against England starting March 7th, India's team management faces a dilemma regarding out-of-form Rajat Patidar. They are considering releasing him for Madhya Pradesh's Ranji Trophy semifinal (March 2nd), but await KL Rahul's injury report for final decision-making. India needs World Test Championship points, and Patidar's poor series performance (63 runs in six innings) adds pressure.

“Ideally, the team management would want to see Patidar go back to play the Ranji semifinal and find some form. But that depends on Rahul’s availability. If Rahul is unavailable then he may be asked to stay back with the team. Even if Devdutt Padikkal makes his debut in the last Test, the team management needs an extra batter in the team as a concussion substitute,” the source said.
