The BCCI medical team is monitoring him closely and is in consultation with experts in London for his care. The board said that Jasprit Bumrah, who was released from the team for the fourth Test, will join the team for the fifth Test in Dharamsala.

Along with this, BCCI said that Jasprit Bumrah, who was dropped from the squad for the fourth Test, will return for the fifth Test. Washington Sundar has also been released. Sundar will join the Tamil Nadu team and play the semi-final match of Ranji Trophy against Mumbai. This semi-final will start on March 2. He will join the Indian squad only after this match.

BCCI further said: - Washington Sundar has also been released from the team. He will join Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy semi-final against Mumbai starting on March 2. If needed, he will join the Indian team for the fifth Test after the completion of the home matches. The board said- Mohd. Shami's surgery on 26 February was successful. He had a problem with his right heel. He is recovering well and will soon join the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to begin his rehab process.
