India Expected to Make 3 Big Changes: The Indian cricket team has delivered a spectacular performance in the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan (Afghanistan tour of India 2026), winning the first two games. With this commanding display, India has secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Whether in batting or bowling, Team India has completely outclassed the Afghan side in both departments.

The Indian team has a packed schedule ahead. They are set to play T20 series against Ireland and England, followed by a campaign at the Asian Games. Given this, it is the perfect time for the team management to rest some senior players and test the team's bench strength.

Let’s take a look at the three young players on whom all eyes will be fixed during the third ODI:

3 Big Experiments Team India Can Try in IND vs AFG 3rd ODI

3. Harsh Dubey

Left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey made his international debut in the first ODI of this series. Despite the challenging conditions and dew (wet ball) in Dharamshala, he bowled impressively and claimed three wickets.

However, he was replaced by the experienced Kuldeep Yadav in the second match due to team composition requirements. Since India has already won the series, Harsh Dubey could be given another chance on the spin-friendly pitch in Chennai. By providing him with consistent opportunities, the team would aim to groom another match-winning spinner for the future.

2. Nitish Kumar Reddy

Young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy missed the second ODI due to a minor thigh injury. However, if he fully recovers by the third match, his spot in the playing XI should be considered assured.

  • Sharper Bowling: Nitish’s bowling has improved remarkably over the last few months. In the first ODI, he proved his mettle by bowling Afghanistan's dangerous opener, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, with a brilliant yorker.
  • Management's Plan: In this dead-rubber (dead-rubber/formal) match, the team management might give Nitish the opportunity to bowl his full quota of 10 overs. Additionally, he could be promoted up the batting order to test his batting capabilities.

1. Harshit Rana

Delhi pacer Harshit Rana is set to join the Indian squad just before the third ODI. He had missed major tournaments like the T20 World Cup and IPL 2026 due to a serious knee surgery, but now, fully fit, he is eager to make a big impact on the field.

  • Pace and Precision: Harshit is known for his high speed and, when in rhythm, can consistently bowl at 145 kmph.
  • All-round Ability: Reports suggest that while on the road to recovery from his injury, Harshit has also worked hard on his batting skills.
  • Key Point: If the medical team declares him fully fit, the captain might give him a direct opportunity in the playing XI. This would help India groom an excellent fast bowler for the future.
