Before looking at the points table, it is essential to understand the new and historic format for this edition:
48 Teams: For the first time in FIFA history, teams from 48 nations instead of 32 are taking the field to compete for the World Cup title.
3 Host Nations: This marks the first occasion where three countries, the USA, Canada, and Mexico, are jointly hosting this mega event.
12 Groups: All 48 teams have been divided into a total of 12 distinct groups, labeled Group A through Group L. Each group consists of 4 teams.
Round of 32 Qualification: The excitement of the knockout stage is set to double this time. While the top two teams from each group will advance directly to the next round, the 8 best third-placed teams across all 12 groups will also secure a spot in the Round of 32.
