Controversial umpiring decisions in IPL 2024

There have been many controversial umpiring decisions in the Indian Premier League 2024. Former cricketers have criticized the umpires and raised questions about the decline in umpiring standards. Take a look at the most controversial umpiring in the Indian Premier League so far, including the controversy over Virat Kohli's no-ball out.

1. Virat Kohli out against KKR

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Eden Gardens on April 21, 2024 was very exciting and thrilling. KKR won this match by just 1 run


Virat Kohli controversial dismissal against KKR was the main issue of the match. While facing KKR bowler Harshit Rana, Virat Kohli was standing outside the crease and was sure that the ball was above waist height.

2. Suyyash Prabhudesai- Debatable four or six

The pair of Dinesh Karthik and Suyyash Prabhudesai were at the crease while chasing the target of 223 runs against KKR. In the 17th over of the match, Prabhudesai faced the ball of KKR spinner Varun Chakraborty and hit a six which went towards the boundary line, due to which the question arose whether it was a four or a six. The on-field umpires gave away four runs without consulting the third umpire, leading to questions over the umpires' decisions among fans and former cricketers.

3. Sunil Narine - No Ball

In the same match against KKR, the umpires faced another counter-attack, including a no-ball controversy in an over by Sunil Narine, which went unnoticed by the on-field umpire. Later, former players criticized the umpires after observing that Sunil Narine had bowled a no-ball.

4. Prithvi Shaw out controversially

Prithvi Shaw's catch taken by Noor Ahmed in the 41st match played between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans at Arun Jaitley Stadium was quite controversial and remained in the headlines as fans and the cricket world raised questions on this catch. GT bowler Sandeep Warrier was bowling the fourth over and was caught out on the very second ball. The on-field umpire took the help of the third umpire and Shaw was declared out.
