They clinched their first BWF World Tour title at the Hyderabad Open, triumphing over the Indonesian duo Akbar Bintang Cahyono and Muhammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.

In 2019, Shetty and Rankireddy became trailblazers as the first Indian doubles pair to win a BWF Superseries or BWF World Tour (Super 500+) title, securing victory at the Thailand Open against China’s Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen. They also finished as runners-up at the French Open, falling to the formidable Indonesian pair Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo.
2021
Shetty and Rankireddy faced setbacks in 2021, bowing out in the second round of the 2020 Yonex Thailand Open to Indonesia’s Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan. Their Olympic journey ended in the group stage, despite a notable victory over eventual gold medalists Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin. They qualified for the BWF World Tour Finals for the first time but withdrew after an early loss to Denmark’s Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen.
2022
The year 2022 saw Shetty and Rankireddy start strong by winning the India Open and contributing to India’s historic Thomas Cup victory. They clinched the men’s doubles gold at the Commonwealth Games, overcame defending champions at the BWF World Championships to secure a bronze, and won their first Super 750 title at the French Open.
2023
In 2023, Shetty and Rankireddy added to their accolades by winning the Swiss Open, the Asian Championships, and their first BWF World Super 1000 title at the Indonesia Open. They continued their winning streak at the Korea Open, showcasing their dominance in men’s doubles.
2024
In 2024, the duo reached the finals of the Malaysia Open and India Open but fell short against strong opponents. Their perseverance paid off with a victory at the French Open, their first tour win of the year. However, they faced an early exit at the Singapore Open against a Danish pair.
