The shortest format of cricket is one of the most popular formats in the world. As life is moving forward quickly, madness for T20 cricket became mad. After the World Cup, Bangladesh also moved forward to their popular T20 league BPL 2024. Recently, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has been announced the BPL 2024 schedule. But there is a concern related to dates. This league is going to clash with five other T20 leagues worldwide.
BPL is a prestigious tournament in Bangladesh. A lot of young players get chances to showcase their talents on the big stage. For this season, Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced the full schedule for this tournament. The tournament is ready to raise the curtain on 19th January and the final will occur on March 1st. The playoff stage of the league will begin on February 25th. A total of 46 matches will be played in the tournament. Seven teams will lock horns with each other for the trophy.
Fortune Barishal, Chottogram Challenges, Comilla Victorians, Durdanto Dhaka, Rangpur Riders, Sylhet Strikers, and Khulna Tigers will be locking horns to name the trophy. As usual, the BPL 2024 will be playing at three venues. Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, Dhaka, Sylhet International Stadium, Sylhet, and Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chottogram will host the whole tournament. Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, Dhaka will host the final match on March 1st.
But there is a big concern for the BCB. At this time, five other major T20 leagues will happen worldwide. The schedule will clash with ILT20, SA20, Super Smash, BBL, and the PSL. ILT20 will be starting from January 19 to February 17 in UAE. SA20 is scheduled to happen from January 10 to February 10. Super Smash will be going on from December 19 to January 28. PSL’s schedule is not out yet. But as per reports, that is scheduled to happen in mid-February.
The Pakistani players are a reliable part of this league. That is a matter to think of for the BCB. Most BPL teams are mainly dependent on overseas players. Top Pakistani players like Mohammad Rizwan, Iftikhar Ahmed, and other big names also take part in this tournament. Rather than Pakistani players, The Netherlands, USA, South Africa, Ireland, and Zimbabwe players also take part in the league. As the schedule clashes with other T20 tournaments, a question is raised over overseas players’ part in this edition of the tournament.
