Australia vs Sri Lanka Highlights, T20 World Cup 2022: On Tuesday, Australia defeated Sri Lanka in their T20 World Cup Super 12 Stage match in Perth. Marcus Stoinis unbeaten 59-run knock off 18 balls propelled Australia to 158/3 in 16.3 overs during their 158-run chase, which they won by seven wickets. Meanwhile, Aaron Finch hit an unbeaten 31-run knock off 42 balls, and Glenn Maxwell hit 23 runs off 12 balls. Sri Lankas dismissals came from Dhananjaya de Silva, Chamika Karunaratne, and Maheesh Theekshana. Initially, Charith Asalankas unbeaten 38-run knock off 25 balls helped Sri Lanka post 157/6 in 20 overs. Pathum Nissanka scored 40 runs off 45 balls, while Dhananjaya de Silva scored 26 runs off 23 deliveries. The Aussies were led by Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Ashton Agar, and Glenn Maxwell, who each took a wicket.

After losing to New Zealand in the second round opener, this was a crucial victory for Australia. They were struggling until one point in the run-chase, when Glenn Maxwell broke the shackles, and Marcus Stoinis then broke the record for the fastest fifty by an Australian in T20Is! Stoinis hit six maximums and four boundaries in his 18-ball innings, scoring 59 runs! Wanindu Hasaranga will remember this as one of his bad days. In order to remain competitive in the tournament, Sri Lankas strategies will need to be tweaked slightly. Australia has also done a lot for their NRR with 21 balls to spare.

Aaron Finch, the captain of Australia says that "he is very happy with their performance but admits that his inning was poor. Mentions that their approach with the bat was fine as it was important for them to get through the new ball with the wicket offering assistance to the fast bowlers. Adds that it would have been nice if he could have kicked on earlier and made the chase easier. Claims that it is a tough wicket with extra bounce and the long boundaries make it difficult to score freely but says that it is nice to get the two points. He then credits Marcus Stoinis for a special inning and says that to come out with that kind of intent is the big thing. Ends by saying that is it a great event playing England anywhere in the world and they are looking forward to it."

Dasun Shanaka, the Sri Lankan skipper says that "they started and finished well. Reckons that they were 15-20 runs short in their batting effort. Feels that the fast bowlers were not prepared well since they were coming off injuries. Adds that it was tough with the new ball and feels that Australia batted really well at the end."
