The controversy surrounding the NEET examination began when reports of a paper leak emerged from Rajasthan and several other states. Claims circulating on social media and other platforms suggesting that the examination paper was available in advance raised serious questions regarding the integrity of the examination process.
Following an initial inquiry into the matter on May 8, inputs received from central agencies made it evident that the examination process had been compromised. Based on this report, it was concluded that it would not be possible to proceed with the results of the current examination.
Who is Behind the NEET 2026 Leak?, CBI Investigation and Responsibility
To unearth this extensive paper leak network, the Central Government has now handed over the entire investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
- Scope of Investigation: The CBI will determine the mastermind behind the leak and assess the full extent of this network.
- Suspected Collusion: According to sources, the investigation is also focusing on whether anyone from within the examination centers or the department facilitated this leak.
- NTA's Cooperation: The NTA has clarified that it is handing over all relevant records and documents to the CBI to ensure that the culprits receive strict punishment.
