NEET UG 2026 Cancelled: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially cancelled the NEET (UG) 2026 examination conducted on May 3, 2026, following serious allegations of paper leaks and exam-related irregularities across the country.
The Government of India has also ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter. NTA confirmed that the medical entrance exam will now be conducted again, with fresh dates expected to be announced soon.
NEET UG 2026 Cancelled Over Alleged Exam Irregularities
According to NTA, inputs received from investigative agencies indicated that the sanctity of the examination process may have been compromised. In view of these findings, the government decided to cancel the examination to ensure fairness and transparency for all candidates.
The agency stated that continuing with the current examination process was no longer possible under the circumstances.
CBI Takes Over Investigation Into NEET Paper Leak Claims
The Government of India has handed over the case to the CBI for a detailed investigation into the alleged paper leak and other examination malpractices.
The investigation will reportedly focus on:
- Alleged paper leak networks
- Irregularities at examination centres
- Possible involvement of middlemen and organized groups
- Security lapses in the examination process
NTA has assured full cooperation with the investigation and said it will provide all necessary documents, technical data, and records to the agency.

NTA Confirms NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam
NTA has announced that the NEET UG 2026 examination will be conducted again. The revised schedule, including exam dates and admit card details, will be released soon through official channels.
Students are advised to stay updated through NTA’s official notifications.
No Fresh Registration Needed for Re-Examination
The agency clarified that candidates will not need to register again for the re-exam. All previously submitted applications will remain valid for the fresh examination process.
NTA also confirmed:
- No additional examination fee will be charged
- Existing application details will be used for the re-test
- Students will not have to submit fresh forms

In a major relief for candidates, NTA stated that the examination fee already paid by students will be refunded. The agency added that the re-examination will be conducted using its internal resources to ensure better transparency and management.
Nearly 23 Lakh Students Affected by NEET Cancellation
Around 23 lakh students from across India appeared for NEET UG 2026 this year. Following the cancellation announcement, confusion and concern have spread among candidates and parents awaiting clarity on the new examination schedule.
