Filmmaker Nag Ashwin's sci-fi film Kalki 2898-AD starring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone will now be released in theaters on May 9, 2024, the makers announced on Friday.

Production banner Vyjayanthi Movies shared the news of the new release date of the multilingual big-budget film along with a new poster featuring Prabhas on their social media pages.

The studio posted on Instagram, "The story that ended 6000 years ago. Begins on May 9, 2024. The future opens." The film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani was earlier scheduled to release on January 12.

According to the makers, the magnum opus, which was greenlit as a project in 2020, promises to take audiences to a world never seen before in Indian cinema.

The official title of the film, Kalki 2898-AD, was announced by the producers at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) in July 2023. It is produced by Ashwini Dutt, founder of Vyjayanti Movies.
