IOS Sports & Entertainment, which manages Manu Bhaker, the 22-year-old shooter who won two bronze medals at the Paris Olympics, is taking legal action against firms who have been generating congratulatory advertising by utilizing Bhaker's photographs and videos without supporting her.
' Since yesterday, over two dozen firms that are not linked with Manu have issued congratulations commercials on social media including her photographs and their products,' said Neerav Tomar, MD of IOS Sports & Entertainment. 'This is not lawful, and we have served legal letters to these businesses. This is a cost-free marketing opportunity.'
According to the research, some of these brands include Bajaj Foods, LIC, FIITJEE, Oakwood International School, Apricot Bioscience, Praneet Group, Radha TMT, Kineto, Parul Ayurvedic Hospital, and Xtrabrick Realtors.
At the moment, Manu Bhaker exclusively supports Performax Activewear, a clothing line focused on fitness and sports gear. She is, however, in discussions for partnerships with roughly six more businesses.
While there are laws in place to prohibit these kinds of abuses, they are not very helpful since, unlike in Europe and the US, celebrities in India seldom take legal action. This is a result of India's protracted legal system.
