Kia India unveiled the facelift of its popular SUV Sonet in the global market including India on December 14. The company will launch this car next year with 9 color options.
Kia has made some cosmetic updates to the design of the new Sonet. This includes a newly designed grille with updated LED DRL, connected LED tail lamps and new alloy wheels. Meanwhile, interior cabin updates include a new climate control panel and ventilated seats and new seat upholstery.
The new Sonet is now equipped with 25 safety features like 360-degree camera, digital driver display and advanced driving assistance technologies (ADAS). Bookings for Sonet facelift will start from December 20. Customers can book by visiting the official website or dealership.
The company has tried to make the new Sonet sharper and more stylish than before. The company's signature tiger nose grill is given in its front. Aggressive LED headlamps are available with saber tooth styling at both corners, which looks a lot like Mahindra's XUV700. A thin LED fog lamp housing is found on the front bumper below the grille.
On the side, there are 16-inch sporty crystal cut alloy wheels, fully covered body cladding, body color door handles, roof rails and an electric sunroof. Connected tail lamps have been provided in the rear, which look like Seltos. Apart from this, a sporty aerodynamic rear skid plate with rear spoiler and dark metallic accent is available.
The cabin of the all-new Seltos has seen several upgrades. A new 10.25 inch digital driver information display has been provided on the dashboard. It has graphics that resemble the user interface of the new Seltos. The cabin now gets a blacked out theme with brown inserts.
Apart from this, there is infotainment touchscreen with 70+ connected car features, ventilated front seats, 4-way power adjustable driver seat, 7-speaker Bose audio system, wireless phone charging, in-built air purifier, 360-degree camera and a . Features like voice operated sunroof have been provided.
The new Sonet will retain many of the engines and transmissions from the current model. The entry-level variant will be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 82bhp power and 115Nm torque, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
It will have the option of a 1-litre turbo petrol engine with 118bhp power and 172Nm torque, which will come with two transmission options, 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and 6-speed clutchless manual.
Additionally, the third option Sonet will continue to offer the 114bhp 1.5-litre diesel engine with 250Nm and 6-speed clutchless manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission options.
The South Korean automaker has given a major update to the sub-4 meter SUV Kia Sonet for the first time since it was launched in 2020. The car has been introduced with 3 variants and 5 gearboxes.
After the updation, the price of the new Sonet can start from Rs 8 lakh (Delhi, ex-showroom). Currently, Sonet price starts at Rs 7.79 lakh (Delhi, ex-showroom). It will compete with Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
For safety, the new Sonet will have features like electronic brake distribution, emergency stop signal, brake assist, electronic stability control (ESC), hill-start assist control (HAC), vehicle stability management (VSM) and antilock brake system (ABS). , Apart from this, 6 airbags will be available as standard in all variants.
The new Sonet facelift gets 17 autonomous level-2 features like the Seltos. These include smart cruise control with stop and go, front collision warning (FCW), lane keep assist, rear blind spot collision avoidance and autonomous emergency braking.
