Cricket Legends React to RCB Blockbuster Victory: Royal Challengers Bangalore clinched their second consecutive IPL title on Sunday (May 31) by defeating Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Chasing a target of 156 runs, RCB achieved the objective within just 18 overs, posting a score of 161/5 with 12 balls to spare; once again, the architect of this victory was none other than Virat Kohli.
Batting first, Gujarat Titans got off to a shaky start, as both Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill were dismissed within the Powerplay. Nishant Sindhu scored a brisk 20 runs off 18 balls, after which RCB's bowlers continued to take wickets at regular intervals. Jos Buttler struggled to find his rhythm; he scored 19 runs off 23 balls before being stumped off the bowling of Krunal Pandya.
Washington Sundar proved to be the savior for Gujarat; he played a composed and unbeaten knock of 50 runs off 37 balls. Thanks to brief cameos played towards the end by Arshad Khan, Rahul Tewatia, Jason Holder, and Rashid Khan, the Titans managed to reach a respectable total of 155/8. For RCB, Rasikh Salam Dar was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets for 27 runs, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, and Krunal Pandya also made valuable contributions.
