Citroen India is preparing to unveil its new SUV-coupe Basalt in India on August 2. Earlier, the company has released official pictures of the production model of the car. The company introduced the concept model of the car in the global market in March this year. Citroen will produce it in India itself. The car will be equipped with advanced safety features along with 6 airbags. Citroen Basalt will be the third car to come under the C-Cube program, on which Citroen C3 and C3 Aircross have already come. This program is specially designed for markets like India and South America. Its aim is to introduce efficient and economical models in the market.
Known as Citroen C3X, this car can be launched in the Indian market this year. After this, it will be launched in the South American market. Its price can start from Rs 8 lakh. In the segment, it will compete with Tata's upcoming coupe SUV Curve, but in the price segment, this car will also compete with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Tiguan, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyrider, Skoda Kushak and Honda Elevate.
The new coupe SUV has been developed on the CMP platform, on which the company's C3 hatchback and C3 Aircross SUV are based. The look of the car is inspired by the C3 and C3 Aircross. Its front has a chrome finish split grille and split headlamp setup. Here projector headlamps will be found instead of halogen units. Below, the square design elements of the air vent have been taken from the Aircross.
Talking about the side profile, there is a sloping roofline, square wheel arch, side body cladding and dual-tone alloy wheels. This makes the car look quite sporty. To give the SUV a coupe style, the rear profile has been given quite high and the boot lid has been positioned slightly above the bonnet. It also has a high bumper with wraparound LED taillamps and silver skid plate.
Citroen has not revealed the interior of the Basalt Vision Concept model, it is expected that the interior of the car can be like the C3 Aircross. It is expected that the Basalt Vision Concept will be more feature loaded than other vehicles of the company. Features like cruise control, automatic AC, push button start/stop and keyless entry can be given in it.
Many features of the C3 Aircross SUV can be given in it, including a 10.2-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch digital driver display. For safety, features like 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), rear parking camera and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) can be given in the car.
For performance, the Citroen Basalt Vision can be given a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine from the C3 hatchback and C3 Aircross compact SUV, which generates 110hp of power and 205Nm of torque. The engine can be given a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
