Bypoll Results 2026: BJP Dominates Bypoll; Landslide Victories in Gujarat, Nagaland, and Tripura: Alongside the assembly elections in five states, the counting of votes is also underway for by-elections held across seven seats in Karnataka, Nagaland, Tripura, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. The BJP has delivered an impressive performance in these by-elections as well. The party has already secured victories in Gujarat's Umreth seat, Nagaland's Koridang, and Tripura's Dharmanagar seat.
Meanwhile, the Congress party has emerged victorious in Karnataka's Bagalkot seat. Furthermore, in Maharashtra's Baramati seat, NCP candidate Sunetra Pawar—wife of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar—is leading by a record-breaking margin.
Sunetra Pawar Wins Baramati Assembly Seat-
NCP candidate Sunetra Pawar has achieved a resounding victory in Maharashtra's Baramati seat. Sunetra Pawar has shattered all previous records—including the victory margin established by her husband, Ajit Pawar, in 2019. She secured the win by a record-breaking margin of 218,930 votes. This victory is now being hailed as the largest electoral win ever achieved by any assembly candidate in the history of India.
Sunetra Pawar is the wife of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Ajit Pawar passed away in a plane crash on January 28, 2026. In the Baramati assembly constituency, Sunetra Pawar's opponents are trailing significantly behind her; prominent among them is Prof. R. Y. Ghutukade (New Rashtravadi Samaj Party).
BJP Captures Maharashtra's Rahuri Assembly Seat-
The BJP has secured a resounding victory in the Rahuri Assembly by-election in Maharashtra. This by-election was held following the demise of Shivaji Kardile. The BJP had fielded his son, Akshay Kardile, as its candidate for this seat. Akshay Kardile registered a magnificent victory here. He received 140,093 votes, while his closest rival—Govind Mokate, the candidate from the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar)—secured 27,506 votes.
Congress Wins Bagalkot Seat in Karnataka-
Congress candidate Umesh Hulappa Meti has registered a victory in the Bagalkot seat of Karnataka. He defeated the BJP's Charantimath Veerabhadrayya by a margin of 22,332 votes. On the Bagalkot seat, Umesh Hulappa Meti received 98,919 votes, while Veerabhadrayya received 76,587 votes.
BJP Wins Umreth Seat in Gujarat-
BJP's Harshadkumar Govindbhai Parmar has secured a resounding victory in the Umreth seat of Gujarat. He defeated Congress candidate Bhrigurajsinh Chauhan by 30,743 votes. On this seat, Harshadkumar Parmar received 85,500 votes, while Bhrigurajsinh Chauhan received 54,757 votes.
Davanagere South Assembly Seat-
Congress candidate Samarth Shamanur Mallikarjun emerged victorious in the Davanagere South seat of Karnataka. He defeated the BJP's Srinivas T. Daskarayappa by a margin of 5,708 votes.
Koridang Assembly Seat in Nagaland-
BJP candidate Daosier I. Imchen won the by-election held for the Koridang seat in Nagaland. He defeated independent candidate Toshikaba on this seat by a margin of 3,123 votes.
Dharmanagar Seat in Tripura-
BJP's Jahar Chakraborty has achieved a massive victory in the Dharmanagar Assembly seat of Tripura. He won the election by a huge margin of 18,290 votes, defeating CPI(M) candidate Amitabh Datta.
