BYD Seal EV will be launched in the Indian market on March 5, will get 700 KM in single charge

BYD is all set to launch its third electric car in India. The Chinese EV giant will launch the Seal electric sedan next month on March 5. The Seal EV will join the Atto 3 and e6 in BYD's electric car lineup for India. BYD Seal EV was first showcased during the Auto Expo held in January last year. Earlier it was to be launched during the festive season, but it was postponed.

What is special in BYD Seal EV?

The BYD Seal EV is already on sale in global markets, where it competes with the Tesla Model 3. The Seal EV measures 4,800 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width and 1,460 mm in height. This electric car is based on the EV manufacturer's dedicated e-platform 3.0.

BYD Seal EV Design

The design of the BYD Seal EV is influenced by the Ocean X concept, which was showcased in 2021. In terms of looks, the SEAL gets crystal LED headlamps with boomerang-shaped LED DRLs, full-width LED taillights running the entire length of the boot-lid.

Talking about the interior, the Seal comes with premium looks and soft-touch materials. There is a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system on the dashboard, as seen inside the Atto 3. It has been given a 10.25 inch digital driver display. Other features include a heads-up display and two wireless charging pads.

BYD Seal EV battery, range and specifications

BYD Seal EV is equipped with the manufacturer's Blade battery technology. It has been introduced with two battery options in global markets. It has a 61.4 kWh battery, which gives a range of 550 kilometers on a single charge. The larger 82.5 kWh unit ranges up to 700 kilometers (CLTC) on a single charge. BYD also offers a fast charging capacity of up to 150 kW with the larger pack, while the smaller pack comes with a fast charger of up to 110 kW.

In the Indian market, it will be offered in a more powerful dual-motor version with 523 bhp. 0-100 kmph comes in 3.8 seconds. BYD Seal will be a premium offering and is expected to be priced around Rs 65-70 lakh (ex-showroom, India). At this price, this model will compete with Kia EV6 and BMW i4.
