União São João Esporte Clube is a football club based in the city of Araras, in the interior of São Paulo state. Founded on January 14, 1981, by Hermínio Ometto—the owner of the then 'Usina São João' (USJ)—the club became one of the most traditional clubs in Paulista football. They secured their first title in 1987 by winning the state's second division.
