PFC Lokomotiv Plovdiv, commonly known as 'Loko Plovdiv', is a Bulgarian professional football club based in Plovdiv. The club's home ground is the 'Lokomotiv Stadium', located in Lauta Park, which has a seating capacity of 14,500 spectators.
Founded on July 25, 1936, Lokomotiv is one of Bulgaria's most popular teams and currently competes in the top-tier 'First Professional Football League'; they have won the league title once (in 2004). Lokomotiv Plovdiv has also won two Bulgarian Cups, two Bulgarian Supercups, and one 'Soviet Army Cup'. The club's greatest success in Europe came in 1965 when they reached the third round of the 'Inter-Cities Fairs Cup', where they suffered a narrow defeat against the Italian side Juventus in a play-off match.
Lokomotiv shares an intense local rivalry with the city's other team, 'Botev Plovdiv'. Matches between these two teams are known as the 'Plovdiv Derby'.
