Hong Kong Sixes 2025

The Hong Kong Sixes 2025 will be held over three days, from November 7 to 9, 2025. It is a six-a-side tournament, with each match consisting of six overs. In the previous edition, played in 2024, a total of 12 international teams participated in the tournament. These teams were divided into four groups, each consisting of three teams. Each team will play one match against the other two teams in its group. The top two teams in each group will advance to the quarter-finals, while all four third-placed teams will compete in the Bowl League. The top two teams in the Bowl League will qualify for the Bowl Final.

The winners of the quarter-finals will qualify for the semi-finals, and the winning teams will play in the final. The losing teams will compete in the Plate Semi-Final. The winner of the Plate Semi-Final will advance to the Plate Final.

Format of Hong Kong Sixes 2025

In this tournament format, all teams first compete in a group stage, where each team plays its group opponents once. At the end of this stage, the top two teams from each group advance directly to the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, teams that finish third in their groups will not advance to the next round. Instead, they will participate in the Bowl competition, giving them more opportunities to compete for the Bowl final.

Teams that win in the quarter-finals will advance to the semi-finals. On the other hand, teams that lose in the quarter-finals will also not be eliminated. They will play in the Plate semi-finals. Finally, this 6-over tournament will conclude with the final. The first final will be played between the winners of the semi-finals, followed by the Plate final and the Bowl League final.

Key Rules of Hong Kong Sixes 2025

• Each team can play with six players in each game.
• Matches consist of a maximum of six overs for each team, and in regular matches, each over consists of six balls.
• Every player on the fielding side, except the wicketkeeper, must bowl exactly one over, and wides and no-balls incur a penalty of two runs each. There is no free hit for a no-ball.
• When a batsman reaches 50 runs, he must retire not out, but may return to bat after all other players have retired or been dismissed.
• If five wickets fall before the completion of six overs, the last remaining batsman continues batting, and the fifth player out acts as a runner.
• In this last-wicket situation, the not-out batsman always takes strike, and the innings ends when the last batsman is out.
• Each match lasts approximately 45 minutes to maintain a fast and entertaining pace.
