New Zealand's 2026-27 domestic season will kick off on October 28 at Nelson's Saxton Oval, where the reigning Ford Trophy champions, Central Districts, will host Northern Districts. This marks the third consecutive season that the domestic calendar begins with the Ford Trophy; the same occurred in the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons.
In the opening round of the men's tournament, Auckland will face Canterbury and Wellington will take on Otago, giving cricket fans across the country the chance to enjoy 'List A' cricket right from the first weekend. The women's Hallyburton Johnstone Shield tournament will begin on November 14, with defending champions Northern Districts facing the Central Hinds at Fitzherbert Park in Palmerston North.
Matches for these competitions will be played across a total of 14 venues. Notably, Auckland's Colin Maiden Park returns to the schedule for the first time since 2023, following the redevelopment of the ground.| Season | Winner | Runner-up |
