The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will organise the 125th County Championship edition between April and September 2025. The first-class competition will begin on April 4 and end on September 27. 18 teams divided into two divisions will take part in 15 rounds. Division One has 10 teams, who will play 70 matches. At the same time, Division Two has 56 games, in which eight teams will face each other.
The teams will play four-day matches in a round-robin format. All matches will be played in the day and the traditional red ball will be used. The first eight rounds will be played in April and May, after which the competition will take a break for the T20 Blast. Then two rounds will be played in late June and early July, after which the final stage will begin in late July.
At the end of the competition, the top teams from both divisions will emerge as the winners of the County Championship 2025.
