Some strong performances in Australia's domestic circuit saw Ben Laughlin being drafted into the national set up for Australia during their tour of South Africa in 2008/09. He didn't really have anything worth word-spreading in his first few games and had a quiet series having picked up just a handful of wickets.

Laughlin earned his name in the domestic cricket when he picked up 6/23 against New South Wales while playing for Queensland in only his second List A game and the third best of all time. He built a reputation of being a trustworthy bowler in the death with his wise change of pace and witty variations in length, outsmarting many a batsmen.
