 An emerging pace bowler, Abu Jayed made his First Class and List A debut way back in the year 2010 but had to wait for 8 years before representing Bangladesh at the international level. He started his career by playing a few T20I matches and was later on drafted in the Test squad.

In a short period, Abu Jayed managed to gain the confidence of the bowling coach, Courtney Walsh, and some of the senior players with his consistency in line and length.
