Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has made a strong statement about the future of India's ODI team. He wants young batters Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi to get opportunities in the 50-over format. Yuvraj also included Ishan Kishan in his list, warning that keeping such talented players away from ODI cricket would mean not doing justice to their abilities.
With India's next generation of batters showing impressive performances, Yuvraj believes the selectors should start considering these players for the ODI setup.
Yuvraj Singh's Big Statement on Abhishek Sharma's ODI Selection
Abhishek Sharma has been in outstanding form in T20 cricket. His aggressive batting and ability to score quickly have made him one of the most exciting opening batters in international cricket.
Yuvraj Singh, who has played an important role in developing Abhishek's batting skills, wants to see him in India's ODI team as well.
Speaking at the launch event of sports nutrition brand 'Protocol 32' in Mumbai, Yuvraj openly backed Abhishek and other young players for opportunities in 50-over cricket.
He said, "I would definitely like to see him (Abhishek) in the ODI team. I have said this before as well. If we don't bring players like Abhishek, Ishan Kishan and Vaibhav Suryavanshi into 50-over cricket, then somewhere we are not doing justice to their talent."
'Not Doing Justice to Their Talent': Yuvraj Backs Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ishan Kishan
Yuvraj Singh believes that Abhishek Sharma should not be the only young batter considered for India's ODI team. He also wants selectors to look at Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ishan Kishan.
All three players have shown their ability with the bat in the shorter format. However, they still need more opportunities and experience in 50-over cricket.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, in particular, has limited List A experience, having played only 13 List A matches. Despite this, Yuvraj believes that young talent should be encouraged and given opportunities to develop in the ODI format.
Why Is It Difficult for Abhishek, Vaibhav and Ishan to Enter India's ODI Team?
Getting a regular place in India's ODI playing XI will not be easy for Abhishek, Vaibhav and Ishan. The team already has several established batters competing for places in the top order.
The future of India's batting lineup is also an important talking point ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup. With senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli potentially moving towards the final phase of their careers, the selectors will need to prepare suitable replacements.
This makes the development of young batters particularly important for Indian cricket. Giving them opportunities in the ODI setup could also help the team build a strong batting combination for future ICC tournaments.

Yuvraj Singh Urges Selectors to Include Young Batters in ODI Squad Soon
Although Yuvraj understands that finding a permanent place in the ODI team may be difficult right now, he believes the players deserve an opportunity based on their current performances.
He further said, "The way they are performing, in my opinion, they should be in the ODI squad soon."
Yuvraj's comments have once again started the discussion around India's future ODI batting lineup. His message to the selectors is clear: talented young players should not be restricted to T20 cricket alone.
It remains to be seen whether the selectors consider his suggestion and give Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ishan Kishan opportunities in the 50-over format.
