"Hamstring declared fully fit" – Jemimah Rodrigues ready to return to the field after three months of rehab
Star batter of the Indian women's cricket team, Jemimah Rodrigues, has shared the welcome news of her recovery from injury. After three months of rehabilitation and time away from cricket, her hamstring has been declared fully fit, and she is now all set to return to the field.
The story behind the injury and rehab
Jemimah Rodrigues sustained the injury on August 3rd in Cardiff while playing for the Southern Brave during 'The Hundred' women's tournament; it was a high-grade tear in her right hamstring. The BCCI medical team later confirmed that it was a serious injury.
Due to this injury, she had to miss several major tournaments:
- The Women's T20 Asia Cup, held in the UAE in August-September (which India won).
- The Asian Games, held in Japan in September.
- Additionally, she was unable to participate in the recently concluded home ODI and T20 series against Zimbabwe (which India won 3-0).
Update shared on social media
Jemimah shared an update regarding her fitness through a post on Instagram.
She wrote, "My hamstring has been declared fit. After three months of rehab, I can’t wait to get back onto the field."South Africa tour in December is the next major goal
The Indian women’s team’s next assignment is a multi-format tour of South Africa in December, which will feature one Test match, three ODIs, and a three-match T20 series. Jemimah’s return to fitness ahead of this tour provides a significant boost to the Indian team. Furthermore, she may also take the field for Mumbai in the ongoing Senior Women’s T20 Trophy.
