2026-27 Domestic Season: Fast Bowler Yash Dayal to Play for Chhattisgarh Instead of Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fast bowler Yash Dayal will be seen playing for Chhattisgarh in the upcoming 2026-27 domestic cricket season. Reports indicate that his 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) is currently being processed, and he has already participated in Chhattisgarh's pre-season camp in Alur, Karnataka.
No Matches Played Since IPL 2025 Final
Yash Dayal has been away from competitive cricket since the IPL 2025 final. He faces serious allegations related to sexual assault. Although Royal Challengers Bengaluru retained him ahead of IPL 2026, he did not join the team and missed the entire season.
RCB's Director of Cricket, Mo Bobat, had clarified that "considering his personal situation, including him in the squad was neither in Yash Dayal's best interest nor right for the franchise."
Dropped from UP T20 League as Well
In June 2026, Gorakhpur Lions had retained Yash Dayal for the UP T20 League, and he had even begun training with the squad. However, when Gorakhpur Lions announced their 18-member team following the auction, Yash Dayal's name was missing. The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has declined to comment on this decision.
It is believed that Yash Dayal had anticipated this situation, which is why he had already planned to move to Chhattisgarh. According to BCCI rules, even if a player obtains a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to play for another state, they cannot be barred from participating in their home state's T20 league.
Preparation under Amay Khurasiya's guidance
Apart from Yash Dayal, India off-spinner Jayant Yadav and Saurashtra all-rounder Dharmendrasinh Jadeja are also participating in Chhattisgarh's ongoing pre-season camp in Alur. Jayant Yadav played for Puducherry last season.
Chhattisgarh has appointed former Indian batter Amay Khurasiya as its head coach. The training camp is being conducted under Khurasiya's supervision. Notably, Khurasiya previously guided Kerala to the Ranji Trophy final in the 2024-25 season.
