WPL Auction: Phoebe Litchfield bought by Gujarat Giants

Phoebe Litchfield became the first player to be sold in the Women's Premier League 2024 auction. Gujarat Giants bought Australian star player Litchfield for Rs 1 crore with a base price of Rs 30 lakh. Litchfield plays for Sydney Thunder in the Women's Big Bash League. She, along with Sophie Devine, is the joint-fastest player to score a half-century off 18 balls in a WT20I.

In the year 2019, a video of a net session of Lichfield went viral. After this video went viral, people's attention was attracted towards him. At the age of just 16, she made her debut for Sydney Thunder and created history by becoming the youngest player to score a half-century in the WBBL. Lichfield proved his talent by scoring a century in his second match.

Made T20I debut against India

He was included in his first Australia T20I squad for the December 2022 tour of India. She made her debut in the second match of the series, then got a chance to open in place of the injured Alyssa Healy in the final match of the series. Following his T20I debut, Litchfield received his first ODI call-up for the 2023 home series against Pakistan.

There was a fight between UP Warriors and Gujarat

Lichfield became the first player in the second season to travel from the Women's Big Bash League to the Women's Premier League. There was a tough competition between UP Warriors and Gujarat Giants for Litchfield. Within no time the price increased from Rs 30 to Rs 90 lakh. In the end, UP backed out and Gujarat giants included Lichfield in their camp for Rs 1 crore.
