UP Warriors announce captains name UP Warriors have announced the name of their captain for the upcoming Women's Premier League. UP Warriors will begin their campaign in WPL 2023 against Gujarat Giants on 5th March.

UP Warriors on Wednesday named Australian opener Alyssa Healy as their captain for the inaugural edition of the Women's Premier League. It may be noted that UP Warriors bought Alyssa Healy for Rs 70 lakh in the successful players auction in Mumbai. Healy is considered one of the best openers in the world.

UP Warriors, one of the five teams in WPL 2023, have selected a balanced squad in the player auction on 13th February. It includes 6 foreign players, of which Alyssa Healy is also one. Australia's experienced wicket-keeper batsman Alyssa Healy has scored nearly 2500 runs in 139 T20 Internationals with the help of one century and 14 half-centuries.

On becoming the captain, Healy said, “I am delighted to be getting the opportunity to lead UP Warriors in the inaugural season of the historic WPL. WPL is one tournament we have been looking forward to and UP Warriors have a fantastic squad. We have a good mix of youth and experience in our team. We will try our best to win the tournament.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Sharma, Managing Director, Capri Global Holdings Pvt Ltd said, “Alyssa is a seasoned player and brings with her immense experience at a high level. He has the habit of winning, which is what our team needs. We are hopeful that UP Warriors will put on a stellar performance under the leadership of Alyssa Healy. I wish the team all the best.

Let us tell you that the Women's Premier League will be held in Mumbai from March 4-26. 22 matches will be played in this tournament. The matches will be hosted by DY Patil and Brabourne Stadium. UP Warriors will start their campaign with a match against Gujarat Giants on 5th March.
