Shadman Islam Stretchered Off After Severe Ankle Injury: Bad news has emerged for the Bangladesh cricket team. During the ongoing match against the West Indies on Friday, Bangladesh suffered a major blow when opening batter Shadman Islam sustained a serious injury while fielding. The injury was severe enough that he had to be carried off the field on a stretcher.

The incident occurred in the 78th over of the innings. West Indies batter Amir Jangoo played a shot towards fine leg off a delivery from Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Shadman sprinted from the slip position to intercept the ball. However, as he reached down to pick it up, he lost his balance and slipped, causing his left ankle to twist severely.
Heavy Dew Factor Behind the Slip
Replays and the conditions on the field indicated that there was a significant amount of dew on the pitch and the outfield. It was this dew that caused Shadman to slip, leading to the accident. After the fall, he appeared to be in considerable pain and remained lying on the ground. The medical team arrived on the field immediately, and after providing initial treatment, they placed him on a stretcher and carried him off the field.

Providing an update on the injury, Bangladesh team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan stated, "Shadman has twisted his left ankle. He is currently under the close supervision of our medical team. We are sending him for an MRI scan to properly assess the extent of the injury."
Impact on Bangladesh Playing 11
It now seems highly unlikely that Shadman Islam will be able to take any further part in this match. If the scan report reveals a serious injury and he is ruled out of the match, Bangladesh will have to take the field with only 10 players for the remainder of the contest. This comes as a major mental and strategic blow to the team, especially since Shadman had scored a brilliant century in his previous Test match and was in excellent form.
