LAKR vs WAF Highlights: Fletcher’s Firepower and Middle-Order Collapse
Sent in to bat after losing the toss, Los Angeles Knight Riders got off to an explosive start. While opener Colin Munro appeared a bit slow initially, Andre Fletcher, who calls himself 'Spiceman '- launched an immediate assault on the Washington Freedom bowlers from the other end. Capitalizing on the pace of Ben Dwarshuis and Lockie Ferguson, Fletcher smashed 38 runs out of the team's total of 54 by the end of the powerplay.
However, following that brilliant start, the Knight Riders' middle order became hopelessly entangled in Washington Freedom's spin web. Indian-origin spinner Nikhil Chaudhary turned the tide of the match in his very first over by dismissing the set batsman Andre Fletcher (47 off 27 balls) and then bowling out the dangerous Andre Russell for a duck on the very next delivery. Subsequently, Rachin Ravindra breathed fire, sending both Colin Munro (40 runs) and captain Sunil Narine (0) back to the pavilion.
The Knight Riders, who appeared to be in trouble after losing four wickets for 111 runs, were steadied by a sensible innings from Matthew Tromp, allowing the team to reach a fighting total of 164 runs in 20 overs.MLC 2026 Final: Sunil Narine’s Spell Restricts Washington Freedom

Washington Freedom needed 14 runs off the final six balls for victory, with aggressive batter Obus Pienaar at the crease. Shadley van Schalkwyk stepped up to bowl the final over for the Knight Riders. Washington now required 8 runs off 5 balls.
Under immense pressure, Van Schalkwyk bounced back immediately, bowling a pinpoint yorker to clean bowl Pienaar (53 runs). On the very next delivery, he had Ian Holland caught at long-off, dealing a crushing blow to Washington's hopes. Van Schalkwyk then displayed remarkable composure reminiscent of his bowling coach Dwayne Bravo, conceding just one run off each of the final two deliveries.
