The 29-year-old left-handed batsman Hetmyer accomplished this feat during the 22nd match of CPL 2026, played between the Guyana Amazon Warriors and the Trinbago Knight Riders.
In this match, he scored one century to mark his 100th CPL appearance, while scripting the second century with his bat. Guyana Amazon Warriors batsman Shimron Hetmyer is the first player to score a century in his 100th CPL match.
Equalled the record for the fastest century
Shimron Hetmyer played an unbeaten innings of 111 runs off 43 balls against the Trinbago Knight Riders. Played at a strike rate of 258.13, this explosive knock included 9 sixes and 8 fours. During the innings, Hetmyer reached the century mark in 40 balls, thereby equalling the record for the fastest century in the CPL.
Prior to Hetmyer, Tim Seifert (2025) and Andre Russell (2018) had also scored CPL centuries off 40 balls. This was the second century of Hetmyer's CPL career, making him the eighth batsman to achieve this feat.
Hetmyer and Shepherd Smash 94 Runs in the Last 5 Overs
Alongside the storm unleashed by Shimron Hetmyer, Romario Shepherd—batting at number 7 for the Guyana Amazon Warriors also delivered a powerful performance. Playing against the Trinbago Knight Riders, he smashed 27 runs off just 7 balls at a strike rate of 385.71.
Together, Hetmyer and Shepherd hammered 94 runs in the final 5 overs, propelling the Guyana Amazon Warriors' score to 185 for 5 in 16 overs.
