Sher-E-Punjab T20 League:They say that if there is to be a blast, it should be loud enough to compel people to turn around and take notice. A spectacle just like that unfolded during the opening match of the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League 2026.

A total of 520 runs were scored, and 39 sixes were hit. A 28-year-old batsman not only scored a century but also played the highest-scoring innings of his T20 career. This thrilling match also witnessed the fifth-highest run chase in the history of T20 cricket.

The opening match of the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League 2026 saw a clash between Amritsar Soorma and Mohali Kings. A total of 520 runs were scored across both innings, featuring 39 sixes in all.

Amritsar Soorma hit 21 sixes, while Mohali Kings hit 18. Yet, despite hitting three fewer sixes than Amritsar Soorma, Mohali Kings emerged victorious.

Anmolpreet’s Winning Intent

Mohali Kings faced a daunting target of 259 runs to win the match. They got off to a poor start, losing their first wicket with just 7 runs on the board, followed by two more setbacks that left them at 69 runs.

However, Anmolpreet Singh who came in to bat at the number three spot—had clear intentions. His aggressive approach exuded a winning spirit, a taste of victory that Mohali Kings ultimately savored.

12 Sixes, a Century in 39 Balls: A Career-Best Innings

Chasing the massive target of 259 runs, Anmolpreet Singh smashed a spectacular century against Amritsar Soorma. He scored 133 runs off 51 balls at a strike rate of 260.78, hitting 12 sixes and 10 fours in the process.

Anmolpreet reached his century in just 39 balls during the 13th over of his team's innings. This marked the highest score of the 28-year-old's T20 career; his previous best in the format was 113 runs.

5th Highest T20 Run Chase: Mohali Kings Win

Powered by a magnificent century from Anmolpreet Singh, Mohali Kings scored 262 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 19.3 overs—surpassing the winning target by 3 runs. In doing so, Mohali Kings secured a 5-wicket victory, marking the fifth-highest run chase in T20 history.

Anmolpreet’s Century Overshadows Abhishek’s Explosive Innings

Earlier, Amritsar Surma batted first and were bowled out for 258 runs in 19.5 overs. For Amritsar, captain Abhishek Sharma smashed 77 runs off just 26 balls including 7 sixes—at a strike rate of 296.15. However, Anmolpreet Singh’s impactful century ultimately overshadowed Abhishek’s explosive innings.
