Sri Lanka’s rising batting star Sonal Dinusha has made headlines in the ongoing India vs Sri Lanka Test series after producing another sensational performance in the second Test in Colombo. Dinusha scored a brilliant 103-run century, creating a rare record against India.

With this hundred, Dinusha has become only the second Sri Lankan batter to score centuries in his first two Test matches against India. He has also joined an elite list of Sri Lankan batters who have scored consecutive Test centuries against the Indian team.

44 Years Later, Dinusha Repeats Duleep Mendis Historic Feat

Dinusha’s latest century has put him in an exclusive club in Sri Lankan cricket history.

Before Dinusha, Duleep Mendis was the only Sri Lankan batter to score centuries in his first two Test matches against India. Mendis achieved the feat in 1982.

Now, 44 years later, Dinusha has matched the remarkable record. His back-to-back hundreds against India have made him only the second Sri Lankan player to achieve this milestone.

The 103-run knock has also earned Dinusha another major distinction. He has become the seventh Sri Lankan batter to score centuries in consecutive Test matches against India.

287 Runs in 3 Innings: Dinusha Dominates India Test Series

Sonal Dinusha’s numbers in the series underline just how impressive his form has been. He has accumulated 287 runs in three innings, averaging 95.67.

After scoring a century in Galle, followed by 84 runs, Dinusha once again converted his start into a big score in Colombo. His second century against India has further established him as a key player for Sri Lanka.
