Under Shreyas Iyer's captaincy, the Indian team once again crossed the 200-run mark in the third T20 match against the West Indies. With this achievement, Iyer has become the captain with the highest number of 200+ scores in T20 cricket (combining International, IPL, and domestic matches).
He has surpassed former legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni on this list, while Virat Kohli holds the third spot:
- Shreyas Iyer: 37 times (in just 133 innings)
- MS Dhoni: 36 times (in 331 innings)
- Virat Kohli: 29 times (in 193 innings)
The statistics clearly show that while teams led by Dhoni achieved this feat 36 times in 331 innings, teams under Iyer's captaincy have accomplished it 37 times in just 133 innings. This shift reflects the aggressive approach of modern T20 cricket.
