Rohit Sharma's Parents in London: Big news has emerged for fans of Rohit Sharma, one of the most successful batsmen in the history of Indian cricket.

The third and final match against England, scheduled to be played at the historic Lord's ground on July 19, could be the last match of Rohit Sharma's ODI career.

According to media reports, Rohit's parents, Gurunath Sharma and Purnima Sharma, have arrived in London to witness this final match of their son's career.

This has sparked speculation that Rohit might be seen playing in the Indian jersey for the last time at Lord's this Sunday.

Selectors Outline Team's Long-Term Plan to Rohit

According to media reports, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar and Head Coach Gautam Gambhir met Rohit Sharma last week to discuss Team India's long-term plans.

The selectors made it clear that they are not considering Rohit for the 2027 ODI World Cup and that this could be his final international series.

The selection committee now intends to focus on young players, with Yashasvi Jaiswal being groomed for a major role as a future opening batsman.

Consequently, Rohit Sharma's parents have arrived in London, and it is believed they will be present at Lord's Cricket Ground to watch the final ODI match.

However, there has been no announcement yet regarding whether this will be Rohit Sharma's final match, nor has any statement been issued by the BCCI.

The decision was meant to be made during the Afghanistan series

According to reports, the ODI series against Afghanistan was supposed to be Rohit's last; however, the selectors deferred the decision for a while after he scored a half-century during that series.

However, Rohit has struggled significantly with the bat in the ongoing series against England. After scoring 11 runs in the first ODI, he managed only 26 runs off 47 balls in the second match played at Cardiff a performance that ultimately pushed him toward this major decision.

He has already bid adieu to two formats

Rohit Sharma has already retired from two formats of international cricket. He announced his retirement from T20 Internationals immediately after leading India to the T20 World Cup title at Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29, 2024.

Subsequently, in May 2025, he announced his retirement from Test cricket via an Instagram post. Now, he may also bring the curtain down on his 50-over career at Lord's.
