Shashank Singh, the star batter for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League, has parted ways with his domestic team, Chhattisgarh. He had been playing domestic cricket for Chhattisgarh since 2019 but has now joined Puducherry. According to *The Times of India*, Shashank himself confirmed that he will play for Puducherry starting next season. Apart from Shashank Singh, Mumbai wicketkeeper-batter Prasad Pawar has also decided to move to Puducherry. According to *The Times of India*, P. Damodaran, the former president of the Cricket Association of Puducherry, stated that the name of the third guest player would be finalized very soon.
Shashank Singh reveals the reason for leaving the team
Shashank Singh has announced his departure from the Chhattisgarh team and has obtained a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh (CSCS) for this purpose. He is set to play for Pondicherry starting from the 2026-27 domestic season. The Punjab Kings star batter alleged that the CSCS failed to support him after he sustained a serious injury last season.
Making a significant revelation, Shashank stated that he was not even selected for the team and received absolutely no support. He said, "My name was not included in the player list for the Chhattisgarh Premier League, nor was I part of the squad for the pre-season camp in Bengaluru. When I asked for the reason, I received no answer." Regarding the previous domestic season, Shashank Singh scored 450 runs and took 7 wickets in 7 matches during the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Additionally, he scored 188 runs in 7 matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
